2. Breathing Troubles
Call 911 immediately if your child is not breathing. Excessive coughing may be an indication of asthma, a serious illness, or something that is blocking the esophagus or trachea. So if your child is wheezing, has shortness of breath or is panting without exercising, contact your doctor.
In such situations, parents need to inspect the child’s body thoroughly and check if the fingernails, lips and the area around the mouth have turned blue or if the skin tone is grey or pale. Also, check for flaring nostrils or if the skin around the ribcage is getting sucked in as the child breathes.
